A/Z served as the design/build lead for United Illuminating’s new energy efficiency exhibit space, Energize CT. The community-centric facility was relocated from Orange, CT to a new 8,000 sf space in North Haven, CT. A/Z’s team was responsible for designing and implementing a conversion of an existing retail facility to an interactive learning center that uses the energy-efficient technologies espoused by the center. The Energize CT Center features a range of interactive exhibits that include a model residential interior and exterior as well as commercial energy applications. A/Z was responsible for designing and building a reception area, classrooms, restrooms, and administrative spaces along with a commercial kitchen. The kitchen serves as both a functioning catering kitchen and an exhibit space to demonstrate energy efficient technologies to the food service industry.
