As General Dynamics Electric Boat expanded its engineering resources to develop a replacement for the Ohio class of ships, it set its sights on a trio of buildings located directly across the Thames River from its historic Groton, CT shipyard. A/Z worked with the owner’s design team to renovate more than 750,000 sf of space, reconfiguring it to nearly double the employee capacity with 3,200 seats. Demolition and architectural, mechanical, electrical, and telecom construction services were conducted with the foremost attention to safety and security within the operational towers.
