A/Z was engaged by South County Health to manage the replacement of an old magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit with a state-of-the-art Siemens Magnetom Aera unit that operates at 1.5 Teslas. It was necessary to remove one of the shielded walls of the MRI suite that separates it from the adjacent corridor in order to facilitate the removal of the existing unit and the installation of the Magnetom Aera. The roof-mounted chiller and split system serving the suite were replaced as part of this project, and a new 150 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) was installed to ensure the reliable operation of this highly sensitive equipment.
